Modelling Camp 2026

July 13th - 17th, 2026 · Bressanone / Brixen

Descrizione

The Modelling Camp 2026 is designed to immerse PhD students in real-world problems that require mathematical modeling. During the camp, participants are presented with complex, open-ended problems and divided into small groups of 5 to 6 members. Each group selects a problem to tackle throughout the week. The teams, each supervised by one or two professors, develop mathematical models to address their chosen problem. This process involves: i) translating problems into mathematical terms; ii) analyzing data; iii) making assumptions; iv) testing various approaches. This hands-on experience aims to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and collaborative abilities. The camp provides a unique opportunity for PhD students to apply mathematical concepts to practical scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of modeling techniques and their real-world applications. The course will take place at the "Casa della Gioventù", a branch campus of the Padua University located in Bressanone / Brixen (province of Bolzano). Interested students are invited to write an email to Prof. Stefano Lanzoni at stefano.lanzoni@unipd.it . +++Click on the link below to see the official leaflet of the event!+++
